Known turnbuckles show a plurality of deficiencies. In many cases the wire end must be prepared, for example by arranging special loops, press locks or other types of attachment fittings. Normally the length of the wire must be cut-up before the stretching takes place. The turnbuckle according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises a holder member (2; 20; 37), a nut (9; 23; 40) attached in connection to the holder member (2; 20; 37). In said nut (9; 23; 40) an externally threaded sleeve (6; 24; 45) is located which is passed through by the wire. The sleeve (6; 24; 45) is provided with means (8; 32) for rendering it possible to prevent rotation of the same relative to the holder member (2; 20; 37). In the sleeve (6; 24; 45) or in connection to the same means (15, 16; 27-30; 44) are provided for fixing one end (14; 26) of the wire relative to the sleeve (6; 24; 45). The holder member (2; 20; 37), besides, includes means (12, 13; 21; 43) for retaining the other end of the wire or fixing the holder member (20; 37) relative to a fixed point. |
