PURPOSE:To reduce grinding resistance at the initial and finishing periods and to prevent warp of the grinder wheel or pitching of the work to be ground, by controlling the cut-in speed of the grinder wheel into the work. CONSTITUTION:Grinder wheel 10 is set facing the circumferential edge of the rectifier 2, which is rotated together with the holder table 1. When the feed table 6 is advanced while the grinder wheel 10 also is rotated by a motor 8, a ring- shaped inclined groove is formed along the circumferential edge of the rectifier 2. At this time, the cut-in speed of the grinder wheel is so controlled either with steps or steplessly that the initial period of grinding, i.e. from wheel 10 contacting the rectifier 2 to its side face contacting the rectifier, is at low speed, the main grinding range at high speed, and the finish grinding range at low speed. |
