The split-cage motor is provided in particular for driving a liquid pump. Its split cage (5) lies in the gap between a rotor and a stator. The end shield (15) is designed as a disc whose circumferential surface is out-of-centre in relation to the cylindrical bore of the split cage (5) and which forms at least one segment-shaped space (28) along its circumferential surface in relation to the bore for the liquid which is to be allowed through. As a result, elaborate and expensive casting moulds or complicated drilling operations to produce the apertures for the liquid to pass through are not required in the manufacture of the split-cage motor. The end shield (15) is made of a profile rod material which is cut in at least two circumferential zones (17) which are at a maximum distance from its axis while the profile rod material is rotated around its own axis. These cut areas produce a precisely centred positioning of the end shield (15) in the split cage (5). <IMAGE> |
