PURPOSE:To enhance the stiffness and making various fabrication processes easy by making up a friction pad from a backing metal which is formed by squeezing a metal tube from the external periphery thereof in the form of a plate, and a friction member which is stuck to the front face of the backing metal. CONSTITUTION:For producing a friction pad, at first, a proper metal tube having a thickness suitable for the dimention of the friction pad to be shaped is selected as a metal tube 1 of steel tube or the like which is applied as a material of a backing metal 2, and then cut to have a certain length. The backing metal 2 is formed by squeezing the metal tube 1 from the external periphery thereof in the approximately radial direction, and through-holes 3, 3 for specific pad supporting member 4 is bonded onto the front face of the backing metal 2, and the required friction pad is completed. By the above-mentioned process, a selective work performed at a needed area of the backing metal 2 and interposition of a heat resisting material or vibro-isolating material may be made easy. |
