DEVICE FOR PRESSING WORK ONTO CHUCK SURFACE

PURPOSE:To absorb the declination and eccentricity of a hydraulic cylinder against a chuck so that said cylinder may be properly held by the chuck by a method wherein said cylinder is arranged in such a way that it can swing around the center of a sphere provided between a holding plate and the cylinder when the work is pressed down by a pressing bar material. CONSTITUTION:A work pressing member 15 facing the chuck surface is held by a plural number of supporting bar body 21 having a taper formed by inserting a direct acting type hydraulic cylinder 22 swingably mounted on the operating end of a piston rod through a supporting plate 16b on the body side of the device. The device is arranged in such a way that the taper part of the supporting bar body 21 is disengaged from the taper hole 19 of the supporting plate 16b and the hydraulic cylinder 22 is made swingable around the center of a sphere 37 provided between the supporting plate 16b and the cylinder 22 when the work is pressed down by the pressing member 15.
