Controlling motion of armature of electromagnetic actuator for gas exchange valve of combustion engine

The armature is moved in an oscillating manner between two electromagnet coils, against the force of respective restoring springs. A control unit detects if the armature is currently at the yoke of an electromagnet coil by determining if the armature position lies between maximum and minimum positions. A mathematical model is used to estimate the velocity of the armature.
