PURPOSE:To obtain an organic electrolyte battery with a reduced expansion caused by discharge by adding a liquid evaporating at a temperature below a specified value to a positive mixture containing a metal sulfide used as a main positive active material before the positive mixture is pressed and molded, and evaporating the said liquid by heating so as to adjust the density of the positive electrode. CONSTITUTION:In an organic electrolyte battery containing lithium used as a negative active material and a metal sulfide used as a main positive active material, an appropriate amount of a liquid evaporating at a temperature below 200 deg.C such as water is added to the positive mixture before it is pressed and molded. After that, the positive mixture contained in a positive can is heated so as to make the above liquid added to vaporize, thereby adjusting the density of the positive electrode within the range of 1.9-2.7g/cm<2>. By the means mentioned above, an organic electrolyte battery with a large discharge capacity and a reduced expansion caused by discharge can be easily manufactured stably. |
