PURPOSE:To prevent ozone produced during corona charging from going to a member that receives the corona discharging by providing shielding plates enclosing a discharge electrode and projecting parts which are provided on the discharge electrode sides of said shielding plates and block corona wind. CONSTITUTION:An electric discharger is constituted of a corona wire 6, side shielding plates 7, an upper shielding plate 8, openings 9 formed between the side shielding plates and the upper shielding plate, projecting parts 10, etc. The parts 10 are constituted by extending part of the side shielding plates toward the wire 6. Here, the air flow directing from the corona wire toward the plate 7 is generated by the corona discharge generated between the wire 6 and the plate 7 in the position nearer to the wire than the surface 11 to be charged; as a result, the ozone generated on the corona wire side of the parts 10 is prevented from going to the surface 11 by the parts 10. |
