PURPOSE:To obtain sufficiently greater strength even with thin thickness, by increasing the tensile strength and elongation at breaking of a contact lens, through the use of (meth)acrylic acid allyl ester as a cross-linking agent of a contact lens material. CONSTITUTION:To a main raw material consisting of about 72-98mol% mono (meth)acrylate of alkylene glycohol and about 28-2mol% methacrylic acid ester, about 0.02-1mol% (meth)acrylic acid allyl ester is incorporated as a cross- linking agent for polymerization, and the obtained polymer is used as a raw material for an objective contact lens. The contact lens thus obtained has much toughness in comparison with conventional contact lenses manufactured from the polymer using ethylene glycohol dimethacrylate or isocyanuric acid triallyl ester as a cross-linking agent. Thus, the thickness can be made thin and the oxygen permeability can be increased. |
