The circuit is divides the H.T. voltage by a series chain of ten 68 Mechm resistors and a fixed/adjustable resistor combination of value 68K ohm. The resistor network tops off one of the three connecting wins which link the male H.T. input terminals to the X-ray tube terminals. A cylindrical metal tube screws onto the X-ray tube cathode housing. The three conductors, between which the potential difference is low, pass down a hexagonal tube with a central bore. The resistors are positioned at equal intervals down the length of the tube and spaced equally in rotation around the hexagonal faces, with an angular gap of one hexagonal face between each resistor. The resistor chain is embedded in high-voltage insulation resin from which a lead is brought out to a low voltage measuring point.
