<p>An assembly, partic. for machine tagging and attachment is moulded as connected fasteners each with an end member joined by a filament , and the individual fasteners are stretched simultaneously while subjecting to controlled heating at a point along filament length and protecting the members against adverse heating effects. The fasteners are pref. of crystalline nylon, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyester or acetal resin, reoriented by stretching, partic. polypropylene resistant to cold stretching. Heating is pref. by IR radiation and the jaws gripping one fastener end are liq. cooled. Each filament pref. has a taper over a part of its length.</p> |
