PURPOSE:To obtain economical motive power, by catching water by means of a dam built across the flow channel of a river or the like, leading the water to a point where the desired head can be secured, and generating electricity by utilizing an axial-flow type water wheel set on the point. CONSTITUTION:A water catching part 1 is made over a dam D buit across a river or the like, and caught water is led to a point where the desired head H can be secured through an open conduit type headrace 2. The open conduit type headrace 2 is connected to a cylindrical collected water flow falling part 4 of which width is gradually narrowed. The lower portion of the bent cylindrical portion 4' of the falling part 4 is forming a water falling cylinder 5, and axial- flow type water wheel is set inside, and it drives an electric generator 20 attached to the upper end of the shaft 11 of the water wheel. Another energy generator is available instead of the electric generator. |
