<p>The valve body (1) has horizontal inlet and outlet branches (2,3) and a vertical cylindrical housing (17). The valve seats (6,7) are formed by the inclined ends (4,5) of tubular inserts (9,10). The gate is in the form of a wedge and may be solid or in two halves (11,12) and connected by a key (16) to the actuator. The vertical edges of the gate have semi-circular grooves which fit over four vertical guide rods (18). The lower ends of the guide rods are located in blind holes in the valve body while the upper ends rest in semi-circular recesses (20) in the ring insert (23). The rods are retained by the valve gate or alternatively the recesses (20) may have an arc greater than 180 degrees.</p> |
