PURPOSE:To obtain zinc powder of nearly perfect spherical shapes by ejecting and flowing down molten zinc through an injection nozzle into a down-flow furnace tower of which the upper part is heated to temps. higher than the m.p. of zinc and the lower part is of an ordinary temp. and flowing an inert gas upward from the lower part of the tower. CONSTITUTION:The molten zinc in a melting furnace 1 is fed to a pressurizing device 2, and is pressurized by a pressing bar 3 into an arrow direction, by which it is ejected like fine mists through an injection nozzle 4 into a down- flow furnace tower 5. The upper part of the tower 5 is heated to temps. higher than the m.p. of zinc, and the lower part is maintained at an ordinary temp. Gas that does not react with zinc, for example, argon, or gaseous nitrogen is kept flowed upward through gas injection inlets 6 in the bottom part. Therefore, the fine mists of the zinc are turned to spherical shapes during falling by the surface tension that they possess. These mists solidify in the ordinary temp. area in the lower part of the tower 5, and the spherical particles are accumulated in the capturing part 7 in the bottom of the tower 5. |
