PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound, an approximately novel compound, useful as an agricultural chemical or its intermediate inexpensively, industrially advantageously, in high yield, by reacting a specific 3-hydroxy-4-cyclopentenone with an OH-containing compound. CONSTITUTION:A 3-hydroxy-4-cyclopentenone shown by the formulaI(R1 is H, alkyl, or alkenyl; R2 is R1, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, aralkyl, omega-cyanohexyl, or omega-t-butoxycarbonylhexyl)is reacted with an OH-containing compound (e.g., ethanol, 2-cis-pentenol, geraniol, phenol, etc.) in a solvent or in the absence of a solvent in the presence of a catalyst such as an acidic catalyst or a base at 20- 160 deg.C, to give the desired compound shown by the formula II (A is OH residue of the OH-containing compound and becomes a novel compound by the removal of CH3), to give the desired compound. USE:An intermediate for cosmetics or drugs. |
