PURPOSE:To make it possible to change the combination of a timing gear and cam members constituting an assembled valve cam shaft by loosely engaging the timing gear having an engaging groove therein and the cam members to an engaging part formed in the center part of the cam shaft. CONSTITUTION:A timing gear 2 is or cam members 3, 4 are formed separately from a supporting shaft 1 having its center section provided with an engaging part 1c of deformed cross-sectioned shape. Shaft parts at both sides of this engaging part 1c are loosely fitted with the timing gear 2 formed, at its one end, with an engagong groove 5 or cam members 3, and the engaging groove 5 is engaged with the engaging part 1c. Thus, the valve cam shaft may be assembled only by the work of loosely fitting the timing gear 2 and the cam members 3 onto the supporting shaft 1 without the necessity of press fit, shrink fit or welding. |
