A camera is placed on a rotary support mounted on a base fitted on the vehicle's roof. A shock detector controls an electronic switch which starts a micro-motor which rotates and operates the camera. The position of each participant or witness can be recorded immediately after the shock. The shock detector is a small metallic ball which is expelled from its housing by the shock and which forms an electric contact which is transmitted to the electronic switch. The device is protected by a transparent cover. The switch is used to actuate both the motor for pivoting the camera and the camera itself. The camera aperture is fixed at f/H with the focus set at infinity. The camera is set to shoot 8 frames per second over a 3-second period.
