The document holder is used to accommodate the documents (5) consisting of large numbers of individual sheets or endless form sets. It has a ring mechanism (4) for gripping the sheets of the document, together with a device (12, 13) for free suspension and a device (17) for storage in hanging file cabinets. The document holder consists of an elongate body (1) with an H-shaped profile (2) which is closed at one end by an end wall (9) and has at that point an apparatus (10) for accommodating a labelling area (11). The ring mechanism (4) is accommodated in the space on one side of the web (3) of the H-shaped profile (2). An apparatus (6, 8) for accommodating a labelling strip (7) is provided in the space on the other side of the web (3) of the H-shaped profile (2). The apparatus for accommodating a labelling area (11) consists of a U-shaped marginal attachment (10) on the end wall (9) of the H-shaped profile (3) while the apparatus (6, 8) for accommodating the labelling strip (7) is formed by inward-projecting ribs (6) which, together with the web (3) of the H-shaped profile (2), form guide slits (8) for the labelling strips (7). <IMAGE>
