The invention relates to a tool-changing device for machine tools with heavy tools. The tool-changing device is like a movable carriage, having a supporting surface for the tool, which is provided on the surface of the carriage and on which the tool is displaceable in the direction of the machine tool, at least one spindle drive arranged below the supporting surface and having a spindle block movable on the spindle drive in the direction of the machine tool, and also one coupling element each for connecting a spindle block to a fastening device at the tool. In order to create a tool-changing device in which the interposition of push rods or the like between workpiece and spindle block for pushing the workpiece fully into the machine tool can be dispensed with, it is proposed according to the invention that the fastening device has at least two apertures which, as viewed in the displacement direction of the tool, are arranged one behind the other and through which the coupling elements pass, and, during the displacement action of the tool both into and out of the machine tool, in each case one of the coupling elements engages in a corresponding recess in the spindle block.
