To make fault-free operation possible at a high yarn running speed and/or a high yarn rotation, a twist transmitter (74) intended for rotating a running yarn (34) about its longitudinal axis consists of two pairs of rollers (75, 76) arranged closely adjacent to one another and in series in the yarn draw-off direction. The axes of rotation of the pairs of rollers are at an equal distance in pairs from the longitudinal axis of the yarn (34). The circumferences of the individual rollers (77 to 80) are brought near to one another, at least with the exception of the yarn diameter. All four individual rollers (77 to 80) can be driven in the same direction and at the same circumferential speed. The individual rollers can have a friction covering (81). One roller (77, 79) of each pair of rollers can be mounted fixedly and the other roller (78, 80) movably. The fixedly mounted rollers (77, 79) can have an external drive, and a fixedly mounted roller (77, 79) of one pair of rollers can be connected respectively to a movably mounted roller (80, 78) of the other pair of rollers by means of driving elements (113 to 118). <IMAGE>
