The device for testing electrical extension lines, for example for construction machines, essentially consists of a housing (8) which exhibits a program controller (1), test devices (2) and an indicating device (9). The lines (5) to be tested can be connected via interchangeable adapters (3, 4) and the program controller and the test devices test all wires of the line for any faults by means of successive pulses and indicate the result.
