The package for meat consists of individual sales portions (1) which are wrapped individually by a film without oxygen barrier characteristics and which are connected to a large container (2) which is wrapped in a sealed manner by a vacuum-tight film (3) with oxygen barrier characteristics, it being possible for said film to be designed, for example, as a bag (4). Owing to the exclusion of oxygen, the film (3) brings about relatively long durability. When the bag (4) has been opened, a desired reddening of the contents takes place due to the access of oxygen which is now possible. <IMAGE>
