The invention relates to an emergency signal luminaire or similar indicator luminaire, at least one electric lamp being accommodated in a lamp housing and at least one surface of the housing being constructed as a transilluminated signal face containing a message, and the housing having a device for suspending or mounting it. The luminaire is intended to permit persons requiring assistance to signal their need for assistance easily and reliably. The object is achieved by means of the following features: a) the housing essentially has the form of a three-sided prism, two of the three side faces being constructed as signal faces made from transparent material; b) the third side face forms the rear wall, which is combined with the two side faces to form one component and has a device for suspending or mounting it; c) a current source (battery or power terminal for feeding the lamps) is provided in the housing. <IMAGE>
