The present invention relates to an exhaust gas device for a vehicle engine. The device has a cylindrical housing, through one end of which the exhaust gas is introduced and through the other end of which the exhaust gas is discharged again. The housing contains at least one restriction block lying transversely to the longitudinal direction of the housing and having restriction bores. The exhaust gas flowing through the restriction apertures expands and, in the process, is cooled, with the result that part of the exhaust gas is liquified and small solids particles and small water droplets form relatively coarse particles or exhaust-gas products. These exhaust-gas products are collected by retention means situated in the housing. Finally, the device contains purification means, which are integrated into the retention means, allowing the exhaust-gas products collected by the retention means to be removed from them and sucked off.
