A plurality of tubes having a circular cross-section are to be pointed simultaneously using the pointing press for the purpose of insertion into drawing dies, i.e. they are to be pressed together to give a smaller circular cross-section. Grooves (12) are formed per tube in an upper tool plate (10) and in an identical lower tool plate (20). When the two tool plates are pressed together in a congruent manner, the grooves form oblong holes in which the circular tubes are squashed together to form elongated circles. Upon subsequent parallel displacement of the two tool plates, the tubes are pointed. <IMAGE>
