<p>A retrievable support system for launching a pipeline system (10) from an on-shore site into a body of water, comprising a plurality of ground engaging movable support means (86), spaced along a length of said pipeline system for supporting said pipeline system at said on-shore site, each of said support means supporting a portion of the total weight of said pipeline system; a support connecting line (22) connecting said support means; and a plurality of floats, attached one to each of said support means, each of said floats having a buoyancy greater than a combined weight of the float plus the support means to which it is attached and less than a combined weight of the float plus the support means to which it is attached plus said portion of the total weight of the pipeline system supported by the support means, so that when said portion of said total weight of said pipeline system is removed from each of the support means that support means floats to the surface of said body of water.</p> |
