<p>The invention relates to a method for quality inspection of bristles, especially brush bristles, with formed useable ends that are rounded in a dome-like manner. According to said method, the adjacent ends (8) of a plurality of bristles (6) are photographed with an image analysis apparatus (15) and the degree of roundness of the bristles is detected through image evaluation. In order to obtain perfectly reproducible results, the bristles are aligned side by side with their casings parallel to each other and with their ends in an enveloping surface. Said bristle ends are superficially structured, before or after said process, in such a way that a contrast is established between the ends and the casings. The bristle ends are then photographed by means of said image analysis apparatus (15). Quality inspection primarily comprises determining the quality of the shape given to bristle ends, but it can also concern the ratio of the end surface to the total surface of the bristle area and the number of bristles per surface unit. For the purpose of implementing said method, coloured ends can be used on finished brushes to indicate bristle wear.</p> |
