PURPOSE:To provide a printer capable of setting a printing position easily and accurately, by a method wherein a starting position of printing at the time of moving a printing head in the reverse direction is determined by calculation from information of three specified pulse numbers concerning the movement of the printing head. CONSTITUTION:A printing head 4 is moved automatially and continuously from the position of a left-side sensor 11 to a right-side sensor 12, and the number PT of output pulses of a pulse generator 10 is counted and is sotred in a RAM in a memory circuit 13a. Next, the pulse numbers PA, PP corresponding to the starting point SA for printing and the length of a printed line are outputted from an ROM in the circuit 13a, PT-(PA+PB) is calculated by a calculating circuit 13b, and the starting point for the printing at the time of moving the head 4 in the reverse direction is set. |
