<p>PURPOSE:To improve the followability of a gear at the time of sudden turning of a steering wheel, by forming an electric motor for steering power generation into two-field series-wound constitution having each field winding for c.w. and c.c.w. rotation, and winding the field winding in a direction increasing a permanent magnet field. CONSTITUTION:In case of a device which controls a chopper circuit 8 by a control circuit 4 on the basis of an output signal out of a torque sensor 3 detecting operation of a steering wheel 1 as torque, whereby controlling a current value to be energized to an electric motor 5 and giving the required steering auxiliary power to a steering force transmission system, the motor 5 is formed into a two-field series wound motor having each field winding 51, 51' and 52, 52' for c.w. and c.c.w. rotation (hereinafter referred to as 51-52'). Each field winding (51-52') is wound on permanent magnet fields 53-54' set up in an interval of 90 deg.. In addition, each field winding (51-52') is connected to a chopper circuit 8 in series with an armature circuit of the motor 5, while they are wound in a direction magnetizing up these permanent magnet fields 53-54'.</p> |
