MANUFACTURE OF REDUCED IRON

PURPOSE:To recover an unconsumed carbonaceous reducing agent by separating reduced iron from a mixture of the iron with the reducing agent and a flux discharged from a reducing furnace with the 1st separator, introducing the remainder into a carbonating apparatus to carbnate the flux, and separating the carbonated flux from the reducing agent with the 2nd separator. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of reduced iron with a carbonaceous reducing agent and a flux discharged from a reducing furnace 1 is cooled with a cooler 2, and the reduced iron is separated from the mixture with the 1st separator 3. The remaining reducing agent and flux are introduced into a carbonating apparatus 4. Waste gas from the furnace 1 is regulated to <=800 deg.C with a heat exchanger 6 and introduced into the apparatus 4. In the apparatus 4 the flux is carbonated by reaction with CO2 in the waste gas. The reducing agent and the carbonated flux are then fed to the 2nd separator 5 and separated from each other. The separated carbonaceous reducing agent is fed to the furnace 1 and reused.
