PURPOSE:To sharply reduce the time required for detecting abnormality when the sector detecting is not possible in a disk device using both index signal and sector signal, by providing a specific auxiliary signal. CONSTITUTION:When the signal of an auxiliary signal (SECBLK) is assigned at the time point when the detection of a sector(m) is assigned and a magnetic head is at a location (a). the SECBLK signal is outputted after 1/8 rotation and a desired SEC (m) comes after 3/4 rotation after the SECBLK signal is outputted. When the SEC (m) cannot be detected, the 2nd SECBLK will be detected after 1/4 rotation. Therefore, the rotating angle of the disk until an abnormality is found is reduced to about 1/5 and thus the abnormality detecting time is sharply reduced when compared with conventional method where the abnormality detecting processing is performed after the 2nd index signal is detected. |
