<p>Liquid/liquid extraction of metal values from aqs. media comprises contacting with a water-immiscible organic phase contng. as extractant an hydroxy oxime of formula: A-C(=NOH)-R (where R is pref. 5-20C linear alkyl; and A is cyclic organic (pref. phenyl) substd. by at least (a) OH in the 2-posn. w.r.t. the -C(NOH)R, and (b) R' where R' is pref. 5-20C alkyl in the 5- posn.) and opt. recycling some of the separated metal values and/or metals. The oximes is pref. e.g. (2-hydroxy-5-methylphenyl)-n-tridecyl-ketonoxime. The solvent is pref. e.g. kerosine. Used for concn. of an extraction from are leach solns. of Fe, Ni, Co, and esp. Cu. The hydroxyoximes enable extractions to be carried out at lower pH esp. 0-2, and in shorter time than prior art processes.</p> |
