The electronic pigeon-recorder system cooperates with a data carrier bearing a competition number, pref. in code form, the cooperation being such that the carrier registers electronically on the recorder a time-observation using a built in clock. In its simplest form, the carrier is a magnetically susceptible strip on a ring which is carried on a pigeon's foot. This is stripped off the pigeon's foot and put in the recorder which wipes off any previously recorded data and a time registration is recorded using a writing head. The ring then drops into a collecting tray. When the competition is finished, the recorder is handed in, the race clock is depressed and the seal broken. The collected ring is then read to ascertain the time of clocking-in of the ring. the serving and recording is done visually, optically or electrically.
|
