LATENT HEAT ACCUMULATOR

A latent heat storage device has a vessel receiving a latent heat storage medium and a heat exchange medium, the latter being immiscible with the former and being circulated from a collection chamber of the vessel, through the storage medium in direct contact therewith and back into the collection chamber. In the collection chamber is disposed a heat exchanger whose preferably vertical surfaces are in heat exchange relationship with the heat exchange medium. The exchanger has two separate heat carrier medium conduits in heat conductive relationship with each other, one for supplying and the other for withdrawing heat from the collection chamber due to heat-conductive contact with the heat exchange medium. The basic advance in the art is in that a displacement of heat storage substance by the heat exchange medium does not impair heat exchange even on a long period of operation. The overall arrangement is very simple. Six different embodiments are disclosed.
