PURPOSE:To obtain a titled device which can automatically make processings of defected cylinders and to eliminate the burden of the user, by installing in advance a means which accesses the address of assigned normal cylinders as a substitute for a defected cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A means which accesses the address of a normal cylinder which is assigned as a substitute of a defected cylinder in advance is installed. For example, a cylinder address 5 is inputted into a cylinder address converter 2 from a controlling device 4 through an interface cable 8 and an interface circuit 1. Then, the cylinder address 6 is sent to a cylinder address register 3 after it is converted in address by the cylinder address converter 2. When the cylinder is not defective, a cylinder address which is the same as the inputted cylinder address is generated, and, when the cylinder is defective, a cylinder address for substitution previously assigned by the address converter 2 is generated. The cylinder addresses thus generated are sent to the cylinder register 3 and addresses to defected cylinders are automatically prevented. |
