PURPOSE:To clamp a steel pipe easily and surely by providing a mechanism of bringing a nozzle provided into the end part of a cooling cylindrical body into abutment on the end part of the steel pipe and clamping both by the operation of an oil hydraulic cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A steel pipe P to be hardened is aligned to a hardening head 1, and is brought into abutment on the end face of a nozzle 19. When an operating rod 15 of an oil hydraulic cylinder 14 is advanced, a lever 22 turns clockwise around a shaft 23, and advances a movable element 20 by means of a pin 24. A clamping arm 25 is turned by this toward the inner side as it is controlled by a lever 27 connected at one end to a cylindrical body 12, and the pipe P and the nozzle 19 are clamped by a clamping shoe 26. In this state, cooling water is fed from a water feed pipe 3 into the pipe P, and the steel pipe P is rotated via the body 12 by a motor 16. The outside surface of the pipe P is also cooled by another cooler, and the pipe is cooled uniformly. |
