Air pressure vessel construction - has sections with outward U=section rims and resilient ring compressed between them joined by C=section segments

The arrangement is intended for manufacturing a pressure vessel with protective internal coating (not shown) consisting of at least two sections (1,2) secured end to end. The respective ends have their rims bent outwards through 180 deg. to form U-section rims which are arranged back to back with a resilient sealing ring (6) between them. The vessel sections (1,2) are axially pressed together to compress the ring and inwardly open C-section ring segments (5) are placed around the two rims such that when the ring (6) relaxes, the segments grip into the respective rims. The segments are then upset in radially inward direction, e.g. via a ring (7) placed around them, to produce a pressure-tight joint.
