A tripping lever (4) is fitted on a tripping shaft (3) on which each of a plurality of bimetallic overcurrent trip devices acts. The tripping lever (4) presses against one (19) of the limbs of an approximately U-shaped bracket (20), which limb (19) is located in a longitudinal slot (18) in a latch tripping lever (7) which is supported such that it can rotate. The other limb (21) of the bracket (20) is supported in an eccentric journal (23), eccentrically with respect to the rotation axis of the journal (23). The position of the first limb (19) in the slot (18) can be adjusted, and hence the rotation angle of the tripping lever (4) can be adjusted as far as the stop on the first limb (19) by rotating the eccentric journal (23), whose head (25) is accessible on the front panel (1) of the circuit breaker. The latch tripping lever (7) engages with a tab (8) on a latching lever (5). In response to an overcurrent, the tripping lever (4) pivots in one rotation direction and transmits the movement via the bracket (20) to the latch tripping lever (7) so that the latching lever (5) unlatches, rotates suddenly, and opens the switch contacts via a tripping mechanism. <IMAGE>
