PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that it is necessary to perform man-hour consuming alteration processing of a disk access unit in order to transfer AV data continuously without discontinuation. SOLUTION: A recording and reproducing apparatus is provided with: an HDD 2 which writes AV data into the recording medium; an HDD controller 3 for AV recording/reproduction which, when a write error of AV data arises in a disk accessing unit which is the minimum unit for accessing the recording medium continuously, controls the HDD 2 to skip the disk accessing unit and to write the AV data in the following disk accessing unit; and a skip processing judging means 5. No alteration region is provided in the recording medium.
