发明名称 MANUFACTURE OF PASTED ELECTRODE FOR LEAD ACID BATTERY
摘要 PURPOSE:To increase the capacity and the output of a pasted electrode for a lead acid battery by producing a porous body, which accelerates the discharge reaction during the high-rate discharge, over the surface of an active material by drying a paste packed into a supporter in an atmosphere containing more carbon dioxide gas than the natural atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:A positive plate is manufactured by packing a paste into an expanded metal grid having a width of 135x, a height of 110x and a thickness of 1.4x. After the packing of the paste into the grids, the plates are dried in 15 different atmospheres with varied carbon dioxide gas concentrations, from 1% to 95% and batteries are assembled by use of the above plates. In the figure, the relationship between the carbon dioxide gas concentrations of the atmospheres in which the above plates are dried, and the discharge duration time of the batteries is indicated. As is seen in the figure, discharge duration time is remarkably short at a carbon dioxide concentration of less than 10%, and it becomes short at a carbon dioxide gas concentration of above 80%. Consequently, it was found that the carbon dioxide gas concentration of the atmosphere during the drying should be above 10% and less than 80%.
