PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bipolar optical connector capable of positioning and maintaining each optical fiber cord without damaging coated optical fibers inside each optical fiber cord. SOLUTION: In the housing 10, a pair of cord storing holes 15b is formed that can store the first coating part 52 of the optical fiber cord 50, with a stopper 40 inserted and arranged in a stopper attaching hole 30 formed in the housing 10. A pair of positioning slits 42 formed in the planar part 41 of the stopper 40 is engaged with the first coating part 52 of each optical fiber cord 50 in each cord storing hole 15b, thereby positioning and holding the cord 50. A projected line-like positioning guide 44 is formed along the inserting direction on the planar part 41, while a recessed groove-like guide 31 to be positioned is formed inside the stopper attaching hole 30. Then, the positioning guide 44 is fitted into the guide 31 to be positioned, in a freely slidable manner, with the stopper 40 inserted and guided so that each positioning slit 42 is engaged with the coating part only of each optical fiber cord 50.
