PURPOSE:To provide a toothpaste composition having increased commercial value by its refreshing feeling and characteristic deliciousness, by using a paste of particles having specific diameter and obtained by grinding peppermint leaves together with water or an aqueous solution of sugars or polyhydric alcohols. CONSTITUTION:Peppermint leaves are ground together with water or an aqueous solution of sugars (e.g. inverted sugar liquid, sucrose, sorbitol, etc.) or polyhydric alcohols (e.g. glycerine, propylene glycol, etc.) to obtain a paste having particle size of 1-50mu. The paste is used as a component of a toothpaste composition. The dissipation of the active component in air is inhibited by the grinding of the peppermint leaves in the presence of water, and the nonvolatile components are also retained in the resultant paste. Consequently, the toothpaste composition containing said paste has agreeable taste as well as refreshing feeling. The amount of the paste in the toothpaste composition is preferably 0.05-0.2wt%. |
