PURPOSE:To provide a detector which has a less propagating loss and a wide monitoring range, by a method wherein, in a detector for discharge generated at an electric device, a light wavelength converting part, which generates a long wavelength through reception of short wavelength light produced resulting from the discharge, is mounted to a light detecting end. CONSTITUTION:An electric conductor 3, held by glasses 2, is mounted in a discharge monitoring space 1 of, for example, a generator, handling a high voltage to apply a high voltage. A fluorescent substance 9 is located in front of a light detecting end 4a of an optical fiber 4 and in an open angle 8. The fluorescent substance 9 is formed in a sphere through dispersion of rhodasin G6 in acryl, and discharges a long wavelength light through reception of short wavelength light produced resulting from the discharge. The fluorescent substance 9 is brought to a condition to expose the total substance 9 to the space 1, and a light receiving angle is remarkably widened to emit light through excitation of a short wavelength light. Light emitted from the fluorescent substance 9 is efficiently collected to the detecting end 4a, and is converted into a long wavelength light to feed it to an optical fiber 4. This permits the reduction of a propagation loss and the propagation of it to a detecting part 5. |
