PURPOSE:To obtain the optimum speed of communication, by varying the speed of communication in accordance with the estimation information of a data error factor estimating circuit and the detection information of a data error etecting circuit, respectively. CONSTITUTION:Transmitted data Din is received at an MODEM16 and receives a prescribed data reproduction process at a data processing part 17. Thus output informationIout is obtained. The outputs of a data error detecting circuit 82 at the part 17 and a data error factor estimating circuit 81 of the MODEM16 are supplied to a deciding circuit 83. The circuit 83 feeds the information which obtains the optimum speed of communication to a communication speed selecting circuit 84 based on the outputs of the circuits 81 and 82. In case the circuit 82 detects an error of the data although the output of the circuit 81 is nondefective, a fault of the part 17 is decided. Then a fault state detecting circuit 86 is actuated. |
