PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capping device and a capping method for a liquid crystal panel, having high productivity, where a capping agent is applied only onto liquid crystal injecting port parts, and a plurality of liquid crystal panels can be handled as one cassette unit. SOLUTION: The capping device and the capping method for the liquid crystal panel is characterized in that a plurality of liquid crystal panels, each having one or more liquid crystal injecting ports on a lower end surface are housed in a cassette, the positioning of the plurality of liquid crystal panels on a plurality of coating rollers (or columnar pins) disposed below the cassette corresponding to the plurality of the liquid crystal panels and having a width narrower than that of the liquid crystal panels is performed, and the liquid crystal injecting ports of the plurality of liquid crystal panels are collectively capped, by using the capping agent held on the periphery of the coating rollers (or at the end faces of the columnar pins), while the coating rollers or the liquid crystal panels are moved in the direction parallel to the longitudinal direction of the lower end surface and the coating rollers are rotated.
