PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner which prevents a ghost on an image to be printed on a printing medium which occurs by stray light or the change of light which is not made incident to the light receiving surface of a BD sensor into the stray light. SOLUTION: Stray light preventing means 41-48 for preventing the occurrence of the stray light which gives influence on the image quality of an electrostatic latent image on a body to be scanned 15 are arranged in scanning optical systems between a polygon mirror 22 and the body to be scanned 15 and between the polygon mirror 22 and a horizontal synchronizing signal output means 34 for detecting a laser beam moved by deflection and outputting a horizontal synchronizing signal to obtain synchronization with the scanning position of a main scanning direction laser beam.
