<p>The feeding pen for a pig rearing installation has a trough (2) at one end and a gate (3) at the other end. When a pig enters, the gate is swung down from a raised position to a lowered position so that another animal cannot enter. The gate is returned to its open position when the pig leaves the pen. Interconnected with the gate is a swinging frame (6) which hangs vertically when the gate is open, and which is pushed forwards by the pig when entering. This is also connected to a swinging arm carrying a balance weight (4) which can slide along it. This not only controls the position of the gate and frame, but also regulates their speed of movement. The door is locked by sliding elements on the gate which are released as the pig moves backwards.</p> |
