The relay, which has a bridge contact (11), has mating contact elements (13), which are inserted into a contact chamber (6), as well as a sprung link contact carrier (10) which is anchored in an insulating base piece (12). This base piece (12), which may consist of material which is particularly resistant to leakage current, is inserted like a plunger into an opening in the contact chamber (6) and forms a long leakage path and air path between the contact-making parts in the contact chamber (6) and the outside of the housing. Simple assembly and high leakage-current resistance are ensured by means of additional measures, for the other contact-making parts (13) as well. <IMAGE>
