The covering tarpaulin (7) for the upper part of a loading space, bounded by a frame (8), of a trailer (1) is provided, in the parts (6) which have to be wound up into a roll, for better ventilation of the loading space or for opening a flap, with leaf-spring strips (9) which wind up spirally. After releasing the lower edge of that part of the covering tarpaulin which is equipped with leaf-spring strips, automatic winding up of the part of the covering tarpaulin into an upper roll takes place. <IMAGE>
