The invention relates to gear pump having a ring gear and a pinion meshing therewith, which is rotatably mounted on a supporting journal projecting from an end wall of the gear wheel housing and can be driven in a rotatable manner via a follower by means of a drive shaft projecting into the casing from outside. In a pump according to the invention, both a minimum axial extent and a minimum radial extent of the pump is achieved by the follower being designed as a sleeve which is rotatably mounted on the journal and on its outer perimeter carries the pinion in a torsion-proof and centred manner. <IMAGE>
